For more fun with The Spiderwick Chronicles try your hand at these exciting activities.

Try a Puzzle!

In the Spiderwick series, the Grace children must solve many riddles and puzzles in order to learn about the world of fairies. Put your own puzzle-solving skills to the test with this printable word-search puzzle.

Create a Treasure Hunt!

In The Spiderwick Chronicles, Jared solves the riddles left behind by his great-great-uncle Arthur Spiderwick to find the field guide he left behind. You can set up a similar treasure hunt for your friends or family. This activity can be lots of fun.

You will need:

• Paper

• Markers or other drawing utensils

• Scissors

• A Prize (This can be a little trinket, a kind letter, a small snack, anything that you can think of!)

Step 1. Start by cutting small, pocket-sized pieces out of the paper.

Step 2. Think of a place in your home, school, or library to hide your treasure.

Step 3. Work backward from the hiding place, think of a clue or hint that would help your treasure seeker to find this place. Consider making your clue rhyme! For example, if your treasure is hidden behind a television your clue might read: "The treasure is close at hand, you will see. I don't watch you, but you watch me."

Step 4. Now think of a place to hide the hint you just wrote. Hide your hint there. On a new piece of paper write a clue to find this new hiding place.

Step 5. Repeat step 4 until you feel that you have enough clues.

Step 6. Send your treasure seeker on an adventure!

Craft a Stone!

In The Spiderwick Chronicles, the Grace siblings use a seeing stone to make the fairy world visible. You can make your own seing stone at home!

You will need:

• String

• Gray Clay

Step 1. Roll a piece clay about the size of your palm into a ball.

Step 2. Flatten this ball with the palm of your hand against a flat surface.

Step 3. Use your fingers to press a hole through the center of the clay, then round the edges of this hole as best as you can by shaping the clay. Your clay should look like a gray donut.

Step 4. Experiment with shaping your stone and rolling it against different surfaces to find a texture that looks like stone.

Step 5. When you like how your stone looks, let it dry or bake it according to the clay instructions.

Step 6. When your stone has hardened, put it on some string to make a necklace for easy fairy-finding access.
